Marianne (Stuczko) Soltys

Marianne Soltys, 78, a lifelong resident of Utica passed away
on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton where she had resided for the past year.

She was born in Utica on December 8, 1930 the daughter of the late John and Isabelle Zdanowicz Stuczko. Marianne graduated from the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and received her BS in nursing from Catholic University, Washington, 1954. During her career as a Registered Nurse she was an instructor at St. Elizabeth's and a longtime employee of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital from which she also retired.

On November 28, 1958 she was united in marriage to Dr. Louis J. Soltys, DDS, at St. Stanislaus Church, Utica. Marianne was a member of St. Peter's Church, Utica.

Her survivors include her husband of 50 years Dr. Louis Soltys, Utica. As well as 8 children; four daughters and their spouses, Lisa and Mark Soja of Chappaqua, NY, Karen and Robert Corriero of Syracuse, NY, Traci and Vito Matterese of Ballston Lake, NY and Susan Gurdo of Poland, NY; four sons and their wives, Louis Jr. and Karen Soltys of Niskayuna, NY, Mikal and Laura Soltys of Catawissa, MO, Richard Soltys of Monroe, NY and Eric Soltys of Pleasant Valley, NY; a brother, Rev. Richard C. Stuczko of West Palm Beach, FL: three sisters and their spouses, Beatrice Grygiel of Naples, FL, Pauline and Paul Guzski of New Hartford and Virginia and Donald Olienechak of Penfield, OH. Also included are her thirteen grandchildren , Mikal Jr., Kristofer, Sophia, Tessia, Avery, Anderson, Luke, Ryan, Evan, Laura, Larry, Richard, Cabryn and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00AM at St. Peter's Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Marianne's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mary Ann Laraby (Charge Nurse) and all the staff on the Saul Unit of the Lutheran Home for the care and compassion given to their wife and mother throughout her stay.
Memorial contributions in Marianne's name may be made to the Lutheran Home, 110 Utica Road, Clinton, NY 13323. Envelopes will be available at the Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica.
