Frank T. Kopyt, 77, of Utica, Passed away unexpectedly on, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
He was born in Utica on January 18, 1940 the son of Carl and Emily Rogala Koypt and received his education in local schools. On March 31, 1967 he was united in marriage to Nadja Handzel, a blessed union for fifty years. Frank was employed with the Utica Water Board until his retirement.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nadja; four daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Dan Heitz of, Windermere, FL, Laurene and Mark Carroll of New Hartford, Carla and Carl Hamelin of Newport News, VA and Karin and Daniel Gallagher of, Oneida, his mother – in – law, Wanda Handzel, of Utica, Daughter –in- law, Carolyn Nicholson of Pulaski, as well as thirteen grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; his brother John Kopyt of Utica and three sisters and two brother's in- law; Karen Price of Utica, Frances and Charles Whipple, of Utica and Mary Ann and Edmund Catrine of Schenectady, and brother –in- law and his wife, Joseph J. and Christine Handzel of Utica, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Lamont Nicholson, three brothers and his sister, Fred, Edward, Stanley Kopyt and Jane Mankouski.
Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus B & M Cemetery, Whitesboro. Arrangements are under the care of the Kowalczyk Funeral home, 1156 Lincoln Ave., Utica.
